Game I is inspired by how biomedical researchers work with animal parts to develop treatments for curing diseases. Elpida Hadzi-Vasileva selects and arranges these specimens into beautiful sculptural forms, adding gilding to ‘elevate’ their internal beauty.
Elpida Hadzi-Vasileva often works with scientists in University and Hospital settings where they are making highly specialised micro components to tackle medical issues. The artworks she produces aims to explore, celebrate and reveal this highly regarded medical research activity to wider public awareness. The artworks she produces balances the fragility of our bodies and reflect on the delicate nature of these new medical components.
