Elpida Hadzi-Vasileva was the first Artist-in-Restaurant at Pied à Terre, Michelin-starred restaurant in London and Witness of Virility, an installation work which formed part of her solo exhibition The Wish of the Witness, at the culmination of her 8 month residency.
This installation work was made up of eighty sheep’s testicles, sourced from the restaurant’s kitchen, each preserved and sculpted into beautiful ‘light bulbs’. This and the other works in the exhibition, sought to position themselves between the beautiful and the brutal; ‘recomposing decomposition’ into beautiful forms. The Wish of the Witness was produced following a period of in-depth research by the artist, in close collaboration with Pied à Terre chefs and is influenced and informed by the restaurant’s daily routines, menus and their presentation or plating of dishes.
This limited edition print documents a single sheep’s testicle as produced by EHV for the installation work.
